The Cold War and Vietnam, & Assessing Assets and Problems

Short Answer:

In this Discussion, you will make comparisons between the personal experiences of GIs who have served in Vietnam and those who have served (or are serving) in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

After engaging in your own independent online research, please post one link (from a news site, blog, newspaper site, etc.) of a story or personal account of a soldier in Vietnam, and then post one link from a story or personal account of a soldier who has served (or is currently serving ) in Iraq and/or Afghanistan.

Next, draw comparisons between these two accounts. Here are some sample questions you might ask:

How do these accounts illustrate differences in the way these wars were fought?
Are we as a society more supportive of GIs serving in Iraq and Afghanistan?
Has American society learned something from Vietnam that shapes the way we view the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq? (Be creative in your analysis!)

(150–200 words).
