A bad mood can cause you to not hear things you normally would and an enhanced mood can cause you to pick up on things from greater distances

"selective hearing". A bad mood can cause you to not hear things you normally would and an enhanced mood can cause you to pick up on things from greater distances.
Prior learning in hearing can be positive because your ears can be trained to hear things from greater distances, making you more in tune with your environment and surroundings. As far as past experiences, certain things you hear can become an alert or beacon to alert you of trouble or danger.
Potential applications in my career field of communications are endless. Hearing is the best possible tool for the field because it involves a lot of listening.
