“Research Paper.” This papers also offers LLOs in writing,
critical thinking, and creativity. All rubrics are used to assess.
Topics
For this assignment, choose one of the
following:
1. Using the Oxford English Dictionary (plus other sources, of course), choose a
specific word and research its origin, usage, meaning, and ultimate purpose
throughout its history. How might the
usage and meaning have changed over time?
What was the word’s original intention?
Why is the word so important in the English Language?
2. Choose a particular moment in
history that you find interesting or engaging.
What were the specifics of the moment? What was the impact at the
time? How might such a moment have
changed the society involved then and now? Essentially, what is the specific
effect the moment had? (Make sure to
choose something you are interested in and don’t choose something generic. Be
creative and make this your own.)
3. Choose a specific writer or piece
of literature and relate the particular influence he or she or it had on the literary world.
4. Choose a particular band or
musician and argue just how influential their/his/her music has been in the
course of the music industry and perhaps in terms of society.
As stated below, the paper must be thesis-driven and issue-driven; that is, the paper
must include a thesis statement that answers the research
question/issue/problem. You are not
simply giving me a 4th grade report.
Thanks.
