The Drawbacks of Globalization
Globalizationmeans each country helps other countries to
develop the world by connecting other in the worldwide and sharing their ideas
to develop society as well as the world. However, globalization brings changes
that hugely affect each individual country. Also, globalization brings more
ideas, foreign language, and products. At the surface, these changes are good
to improve education and the life as well. At the root, these change lead to
the negative changes in lifestyle that impacts many different aspects of one
society.
The globalization has many effects worldwide onhealth, culture,
and economy.
One
of the most practical effects that have resulted from globalization is in the
health. Globalizationaffects the health of population. Moreover,
there has been a significant increase interest on the issue of
globalization within health. According to The Levine institute
(lines 20-21) the spread of American corporation has various consequences”
Clearly the Americanization food habits havebecome popular. And the problem is
that the American fast food products have more calories and less healthy taste
not only that, as the authors Hasting.
Thomas, and Stefan (2003) Point that” McDonalds’s hamburger, and
coco-cola has been long fashionable “for example, if a family goes to the fast
food restaurant more than twice a week, that’s may affect in the next
generation’s health
The
globalization has affected on global economy in a numbers of ways. The
complaint about globalization is that it has made the economy decrease.
According to the article ’the globalization increase the availably of foreign
made and disturb traditional products” not only that but even the foreign made
products are cheaper comparing to the traditional made products. Which that
causes the people tend to buy the foreign made. As result, the traditional
buyers won’t make money. Another factor is thatthe
numbers of overweight people. According to the authors Hasting. Thomas, and Stefan (2003)
Point
that (line 70-71) “35 million overweight kids around the world” which that can
cause an economy problem. Although, the costs of health care-to pay the medical bills of obesity
is the effect on the economy, which the country or the government has to buy
for it.
Another drawback of the globalization
is some cultures are getting lost. Culture change happens when there is an
interaction between people from different cultures. This interaction becomes
easier nowadays and more common than in the past. For instance, According to the article “globalization
accelerates culture change” the huge companies produce many things that can
effect in the traditional cultures. The article Globalization and cultures
(lines-32-33) explains that “Starbuckscauses cultural concerns in Italy” as
result of disrespect to how Italian prefer personal atmosphere while drinking
coffee. Another factor of losing the traditional culture is people’s exposure
to the foreign culture. According to the author “people’s exposure to foreign
culture can undermine their own culture identity”. It’s the result of people
reaction to the foreign culture from movies, or even music. Therefore,
traditional culture has been generally affected by globalization and
specifically by foreign companies.
In conclusionthe globalization is a very controversial issue today. On
the one handthere is anargument that globalization also has advantages to the
whole world in education and employees. On the other hand, the world is becoming a smaller place and people are losing
their health because of the desire unhealthy food. Second the economy has
decreased by the foreignproducts. Finally, traditional cultures are getting lost by
foreigncorporation. Each the negative consequences of globalization are
for both the developed and underdeveloped world. This is a serous issue and its
effecting on next generation. Furthermore, it may affect in our future as well.
