PLAGIARISM FREE PAPER AND APA 6 EDITION GUIDLINES
Assignment 1.4: Investigate a Social Issue Final Paper
Faculty Note: Students will turn in this assignment twice: first as a draft (Week 8 Assignment) and then as a final paper (Week 10 Assignment). Students will submit first draft of the assignment and then submit the final draft after receiving feedback from the professor and making the recommended changes. They will be graded separately for each submission of the assignment.
Use professor feedback of the first draft you submitted in Week 8 to revise Assignment 1.3: Investigate a Social Issue Draft.
Before revising the assignment you must:
  • Review the feedback from your professor
  • Review the criteria for Assignment 1.3 and make sure you have addressed the criteria thoroughly.
Write a three to five (3-5) page paper in which you:
  1. Introduce your paper with your previously crafted thesis statement.
  2. Describe how your issue fits into the field of sociology.  Determine the sociological theories and terminology from the text that apply to your social issue.  (Note: Link back to the main points described in the outline.)
  3. Discuss what is known and unknown about your particular issue. (Note: Link back to the main points described in the outline.)
  4. Discuss the value of sociological research into your issue.  Determine whether or not there are (or would be) practical implications of sociological inquiry.  (Note: Link back to the main points described in the outline.)
  5. Use three (3) credible sources and APA citations where appropriate.
Previous thesis:
Immigration is good for the United States. The United States has been a nation of
immigrants from the time it was founded and as such can accurately be referred to as a nation of
immigrants (Foner, & Fredrickson, 2005). This Paper will examine and disprove the common
misconceptions about immigrants by those who want the United States borders closed to
immigrants especially those from Latin America and Asia
Professor Feedback:  you examined some misconceptions but you didn't connect back your overall thesis of why immigration is good.
