Agree / Disagree Analytical Paper

Choose one of the three following statements on which to base your paper:
1. I would never have sex with someone on a first date.
2. I would be very upset if the person I have been dating exclusively for two months does not update their Facebook status to "in a relationship" with me.
3. If I were to have a strong physical attraction and emotional connection with my friend's ex-partner, I would date him/her even if my friends objected.

Either agree or disagree with the statement, keeping in mind how this statement relates to the ideas presented in class. Include at least 4 citations from the reading materials that supports your argument. Citations can either be quotes or paraphrases. Citations must include source and page numbers. Your 4 citations must come from 4 different sources (different articles/chapters in the same book counts as different sources). Include in your answer experiences from your own/friends' relationships, opinions and values.

Grading guidelines for Agree/Disagree paper:

Introduction:

1. Introduction clearly articulated:

* NOTE: Should be a short paragraph, about 3-5 sentences. Should introduce the idea of relationships and the topic chosen and then build onto your thesis. Keep specific stories and supporting ideas for the body of your essay; do not put them in your intro.

2. Thesis:
- Main argument of paper is established in one clear and concise statement _____/2pts

- Located at the end of the introductory paragraph _____/1pt
* NOTE: Should clearly & simply state the central idea of your essay. Example: “I agree that I would date my friend’s ex over their objections because…….(list your most compelling reasons in your thesis).” Each of the reasons you’d listed will be the topics of supporting paragraphs.
