Written Group Contrac

Written Group Contract and Group Presentation Plan
The written group contract and group presentation plan will be turned in together electronically via Moodle:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Written Group Contract –The group contract is a document that provides an opportunity for your group to set formal goals and establish expectations for how the group will be structured (e.g., roles), how group members will interact (e.g., norms), how decisions will be made, etc. The written group contract should be approximately 1 page in length and covers each of the following five issues:

1.      Roles – describe at least three roles that you believe are important to the success of this group (e.g., Leader, Devil’s Advocate, Scribe, Calbrator, Energizer…). Will the same member adopt the same role each time or will you rotate roles?
2.      Expectations and Accountability – what happens if group members have to miss a meeting or fail to get their assigned portion of the material to the group in time? Specify your group’s expectations for members and the consequences if members fail to live up to their responsibilities.
3.      Norms – will it be okay for group members to speak up if they disagree with the rest of the group? What specific steps will your group take to create a climate of psychological safety? Is it important to everyone that this group be high-achieving? What will you do to facilitate information sharing among group members?
4.      Participation – one of the requirements of the group presentation assignment is that all group members participate somewhat equally in the preparation and delivery of the presentation. What steps will we take to get buy-in from every member and to make sure that every member participates?
5.      Decision-Making – How will decisions be made? (e.g., by majority vote, by discussion and consensus, by dialectical inquiry or some other structured process or decision rule…). How will your group handle disagreements (i.e., task conflict) if they arise?
